Aletheian Labs is committed to digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to make our website usable for all visitors.
Conformance Status
Our target standard is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA — the current W3C Recommendation. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities and more usable for everyone. Conforming to WCAG 2.2 Level AA also satisfies WCAG 2.1 Level AA and WCAG 2.0 Level AA, so requirements that reference an earlier version are met as well.
This website partially conforms to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. “Partially conforms” means that while we know of no outstanding failures in the content we control, some parts of the site have not yet been through the full range of testing described below. Known limitations are listed further down this page.
Accessibility Features
Features currently in place across the site:
- Keyboard navigation: every page and control, including the mobile menu, can be operated with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator and a skip link to the main content.
- Semantic structure: pages use semantic HTML, page regions (landmarks), a single main heading, and ARIA labels where a control needs a name — the foundations screen readers and other assistive technology rely on.
- Colour contrast: text and interface colours are checked against the 4.5:1 minimum for normal text, and colour is never the only way information is conveyed.
- Alternative text: meaningful images carry descriptive alternative text; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- Reduced motion: animation is disabled for visitors whose device requests reduced motion, and any automatic movement can be paused.
- Reflow: content is readable and operable down to a 320 pixel viewport width without horizontal scrolling.
How We Assess This Site
We treat accessibility as ongoing work rather than a one-off exercise. Our most recent full audit was completed in July 2026 and covered nine representative pages, including the contact form. It combined automated testing (axe-core, run against the live pages), manual keyboard testing at desktop and mobile widths, colour-contrast calculation on every colour pair used for text or borders, and a true 320 pixel reflow test. Every issue that audit identified has been remediated.
Known Limitations
In the interest of being straightforward about where we are:
- Our contact form is provided by a third-party service. Its labelling and autocomplete behaviour passed our testing, but its markup and error messages are ultimately controlled by that vendor, and we retest after each update.
- Screen-reader announcement testing with assistive technology such as VoiceOver and NVDA is in progress. Our testing to date has covered semantic structure and keyboard operation rather than the full announced experience.
- Behaviour at 400% browser zoom and with reader-applied text-spacing overrides has not yet been fully verified.
We do not use an accessibility overlay or widget. Those tools do not produce conformance, and we would rather fix the underlying site.
